*Since the time of this review, the Matcha Haven, sadly, has closed shop. However, their matcha was sourced from The Santé Company and can still be tasted. Link bellow.

About Matcha Haven: Founded by Michael Robinson in Atlanta, Georgia, the Matcha Haven is a matcha retail company offering great matcha powder and merchandise, as well as education and conversation. If you follow @thematchahaven on Instagram you can watch Tea Time with Matcha Mike (Michael Robinson) for interesting interviews, meaningful socio-political conversations, and matcha recipes. The Matcha Haven exudes a genuine sense of care for humanity and health. This is a Black owned business that donated all of their June proceeds to Peace Preparatory Academy, a program that provides youth education and support to Black families in Atlanta, GA. I truly can’t say enough amazing things about The Matcha Haven!

About Blend: This blend is organic and derived from Nishio, Japan. It is one of the few matcha products that provides a nutrition label with caffeine, L-Theanine, and antioxidant content per serving! Matcha Haven earned major brownie points for this fact. Almost every brand talks about matcha benefits and claims to have the best product, but very few reveal the nutritional composition of their blends. Scientific research shows that concepts such as zenergy and flavor are measurable with nutritional composition. Anyone can say that matcha is packed with antioxidants, but The Matcha Haven can back their claims with detailed information.

Price: $29.99 per 30g tin can.

Scent: Grassy, sweet, hint of butter, umami, and spinach.

Matcha Haven Review

Color: Fresh and bright green, with some light hues. Points 3.75

Foam: A fluffy crema cloud that is mostly uniform. Points 4.5

Taste: A light creamy sweetness, crisp astringency reminiscent of cocoa that is well balanced, combination of watercress and dry grass, a hint of roasted nuts, and a lingering gentle brothy umami note. Points 3.75

Final Score: 4 out of 5 points

Thoughts: Adding this matcha to my current favorites list. It has a pleasant dryness that keeps you coming back for more, but most importantly it has a spectacular zenergy. Every cup promoted deep, reflective thoughts and supported long seated meditations. I also found it useful on anxious or headachy days, as it provided energy and focus without activating or intensifying stress.
