Smell: The smell of Matcha Washimine is unusual and difficult to describe. It reminded me of dried fruit, such as rehydrated raisins (which also reminded me of taro root), and deep spinach and earthy notes.
Color: Bright, beautiful emerald green toward white. Points 4.25
Foam + Texture: Long finish, astringent, smooth and very creamy, with perfect foam. Points 5.
Taste: A very dynamic and intense matcha flavor, rich in most tastes that blend and flow together. Notes of umami are carried with sweetness, and bitterness with vegetal tones. Although the intensity, the blend does well on its own and is easy to consume in its pure state. Points 4.25
Final Score: 4.5 out of 5 points.
Thoughts: A most unusual blend in my matcha tasting journey thus far. It surprised me how a blend could be so intense, yet palatable at the same time. Of course if one chooses to add milk to this blend, the matcha will taste much more subdued. Matcha Washimine makes me think of dark chocolate, a flavor enjoyed by few, but one that is dynamic and complex. The blend also gives a strong energy boost and in my experience lends well to mediation or creative projects. Iāll be adding Matcha Washimine to my Favorites List under Ceremonial Matcha.
